This slot is a great example of slots manufacturer Novomatic sticking to what they do best. It is a simple video slot, which is very nicely produced, yet has no feature rounds or interesting game play. The theme this time is jewels and money. The symbols in this game are stacked, with multiple instances of the same gem lined up on each reel. This means it is possible to have a lot of the screen covered in the same symbol (and resulting wins on many lines at once). There is also an ‘adjacent wins’ system, which means breaking with slots tradition to say that not all wins have to start from the left hand reel.

I would rate this as the best graphics I have seen on a Novomatic slot – up there with ‘Big Catch’ at least. The gems are very detailed in their colouring and light-work, and the crown plus money symbols are very detailed too. The crazy bleeping tune which this slot maker often uses can be disabled in this game – which is a big relief. You’ll find the satisfying clunk of the reels stopping, and a happy brass band type tune when you hit wins. Other than the gamble / collect ticker, this slot is reasonably quiet.
Adjacent wins is easy enough to get used to on a 10 line slot. If you get a line of 3 or 4 matching symbols starting on reel 2 or 3, then this counts as a win. This is enhanced by the stacked symbols. For example you might get 3 or 4 lines worth of three crowns on the last 3 reels – giving you some good (though not great) wins. This is literally the only notable feature in this game, which feels like a bit of a shame for a nicely designed online casino slot.

You can choose from up to 10 lines on this game, though with stacked symbols in play I personally prefer to have the maximum every time. Spins cost from 4c and up, so that’s a 40c minimum for all 10 lines. The maximum line bet is $10, making $100 per spin possible, the standard Novomatic auto play option is also available. After each win you can gamble on the flip of playing card. You will need to choose the gamble button (or collect if you wish), and then select either red or black.The top symbol is the crown, which pays more by a significant margin. You’ll win 500 coins for 5 of these on a line (remember, these symbols are stacked, so you’ll often get multiple lines at once). 4 of them gets you 50 coins, which is as high as the top prize for the next 2 types of symbols – the gold bars and the banknotes. After these are the gems, which make up the smaller wins in this game – again those stacked symbols and adjacent wins will keep those smaller wins coming in.
There is a scatter symbol in play. Curiously this is the Euro sign, and not the traditional dollar that most slots use. These pay wherever they appear on the reels, with 50 coins being the top prize for all 5.
This game is a bit of a contradiction for me. On one hand the graphics are a step up compared to most Novomatic slots, with a real attention to detail which you do not find in many of their games. On the other hand this slot is very limited in terms of the options and engagement side. There is no bonus feature, and not even any wild symbols on the reels to break up the play. The adjacent wins feels novel for a few minutes – though this is hardly enough to keep players engaged.
I know that these super-simple slots have a following, with the game play relaxing rather than intensive like some modern online casino games. At the same time I can’t help thinking that something as simple as a free spins round would have made all the difference in this great looking slot.
